Epic Character Motivation with Jack and Jill

They were motionless, just... watching.
Slightly terrifying, yes
When you're a teen, everyone expects you to explain your actions. Problem is, you have no idea why you do half the things you do, and the other half comes from a combo of hunger and misplaced hormonal yearnings. But when writing a YA book, the motivation behind each character's actions MUST be explained... in an epic way.

Example: I spent this weekend touring colleges in the Northeast with my older sister, and at one point I ran off like a rebel to stare at this wild herd of goats for 20 minutes. They were awesome. My sister, having called my phone multiple times to no response, didn't think so. WHY DO IT? Because... I've got a strong connection with animals.

No, it's a total mystery to me - but in a good book, I would have this deep, fascinating psychological reason! Which is the inspiration (sort of) behind Epic Character Motivation with Jack and Jill, available to read now at YA Highway.

All goats aside, I hope you guys have a great week! I've got mega-surprise in store for this Friday. Then, school starts here next week - not that I'm acknowledging that fact or anything. Can you believe summer is almost over? What's motivating you to push forward towards autumn?

School starts on Wednesday so I'm kicking, screaming, being dragged into autumn. Those goats look so chill in the shade with that gorgeous view!

I actually can’t wait for school to begin, boring summer. Touring college’s sounds fun and even better anything starring Jack and Jill is epic. Can't wait until Friday. :)

What's leading me to push forward into autumn... I have some pre-school (not preschool) anxiety. As a teacher I am hoping my classes rock. And I'm already looking forward to halloween!!!
