When Six Words Equal a Life Sentence [RTW]

Road Trip Wednesday is a blog carnival hosted by the fab YA Highway. This week's question: what is your six-word memoir?

Poems. Novels. Short stories. News articles. All these types of writing are mega-different, but for writers, they all have one requirement in common: keep things concise. Now add to that list - drumrollplz - six-word memoirs! To up the short-and-sweetness level, these abridged autobiographies describe a lifetime, not just a single romance or a missing kitten. (Missing kitten? Where? MUST FIND IT.)

Six-word memoir n. The compression of one's life story into six words, as featured in this book. E.g.: "Most successful accomplishments based on spite." "Nothing profound, I just sat around."

Writing this baby is a challenge for the ages. Or in this case, your ages. So exciting! Here's mine to start. It was freaky hard to think of, so I kind of... well, uh... I kinda... UM. Bloggerly malfunction

Found some unicorns; they were awesome

¿QuĂ©? Okay, so while my go-to birthday wish is for this memoir to be literal, as of now 'tis only metaphorical. Unicorns = the impossible, incredible, magical, world-expanding (non-illegal I swear) experiences that lil' me only ever dreamed of as being real. The things that make it all worth it when it's been a while and hmmm, is anything happening around here? Such as:
  • Realizing writing was The Thing
  • Feeling 100% (err, 99.5%) self-confident for the first time evah
  • Getting an agent (note picture)
  • Those random moments when you're just sitting there and suddenly everything hits you, the beauty and weirdness and potential and greatness of everything, and usually it's 4AM but who cares, dude, let's go explore!
  • This song
  • Waffles for dinner
Admittedly, lil' me also had the experience of waffles for dinner, but damn, that buttery euphoria is the gift that keeps on giving heart disease. Overall, unicorn-experiences have defined this writergal's life, and I can't wait to have more stampede through. I think we've all had them - aren't they great?

In seasonal news, the holidays are here, and Xmas is only eighteen days away! In fact, I'd say New Years' is the perfect time to conduct a sentence-length reflection on how life has been going for you so far. What's your six-word memoir? Also: what have been your unicorns? Have a fantastic day, guys!

YAY Unicorns! I think anytime mythical creatures appear in one's six-word memoir, one has lived well!

At first I giggled at your memoir, but it's actually pretty deep. And my unicorn will most definitely be finding an agent. Fingers still crossed on that one. :)

Kate - OMG I think of you every time I hear it. I bet you you can guess why. Also, I love you and I'm always thinking of you, but this is double thinking of you. /stalk (Error: Code "LOVE" does not have a closing tag)

Alicia - Girrl you make me smile even more! :) <3

Unicorns were my favorite animal growing up. I had a stuffed animal I carried with me everywhere, and I named my first club the "Lavender Unicorns." Man, I was a nerd. Love your memoir!
