Listening - ooh! do you mean, how long to write my first book? (That's the only one I've finished so far, hehe) It really took a while. Between writing multiple drafts, revising, and finally getting it where it needed to go, it was one heck of a journey :) But I know ~you~ can do it!! Because you're that fabulous <3

Ack, I am so incredibly LATE. But!

Ah, Vassar--congrats! College *is* a bit of a change, but I think it's really positive in the end, and of course the independence is RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING HAHA. Ahem. So, yes. College is cool.

Also: backpacking across Europe? Excitiiing. I'm planning to spend a summer abroad myself, hopefully through my university's program sometime before I graduate. Fingers crossed. :s

There isn't too much else going on for me haha. Just working and writing, though I *have* just completed a 40 page poem, which I honestly had no business writing in the first place--don't know what I was thinking. >.> Silly undergrad.

But anyway, sounds like you've got a lot of big, momentous events coming up! Relax, take them all in stride, and you'll come out fine--like a boss, of course. :D

Why did it take me so long to comment? It has something to do with the fact that I've been even more internet-absent than you but have no excuse. Aside from everyday life sorts of things (homework, tiredness, stress, chores, housecleaning, and did I mention tiredness??). Le sigh. Things never seem to get any easier.

But instead of raining on your parade, let me join in! Your excitement is contagious! I'm happy that your life is bursting with potential right about now and hope you'll remember to take the time to keep us updated on the unlimited amount of awesomeness I'm sure you'll soon be experiencing. :)

First, congrats on Vassar. Congrats on graduation. And congrats on the birthday!

Here's some unasked-for advice from someone who was your age once and now has kids your age and thinks, yeah - I'm qualified to give unasked-for advice (even if nobody follows it:)).

All those what-ifs you're worried about? How do you know if you made the right decision? Etc. etc., etc...

Short answer? You don't. Translation - don't worry about it all so much. Don't worry about 'absolutes' - every thing has good and bad to it and that's okay. You make things work for you.

Even if - worst case - some decision you make turns out to be The Worst Thing EVER, you suck it up, learn from it, make some course corrections and move forward. Think of it as the grooves etched into the side of a highway; your wheels go off the road, the car vibrates and you straighten it out again. It may have slowed you down, flattened a tire, even broken an axle, but you will get back on the road.

Also, advice from a one-time backpacker in Wales: bring an extra/emergency stove, as many pairs of thick socks as you can fit in your pack, and an open mind. Backpacking is life-changing and insane, and I'm so thrilled that you're going!!

I hope you have a fab time at prom! And college...wow. I know how you feel. I've been thinking about college a lot lately: if I'll survive, if I'll be able to live on my own, be a responsible citizen and...it's all so scary and exciting and since I still have one more year of high school all I can say is take it in stride; you'll do fine.

Hmm...nothing too big is happening to me I guess. My school is closing at the end of June so I do have to find another school to go to for my senior year but I'm just so glad I made through this year.
